Chapter 14: Yuki, 1971 — The Entity in Session Eight

The water is already above the ceiling.

This is the part she keeps getting wrong when she tries to remember it later, in the weeks between sessions when she is back inside her ordinary body and her ordinary life: she keeps thinking the water came from below. Keeps reconstructing the experience as submersion, which is a word that implies a surface to go under, a direction that is down.

But in session eight, the water is already above the ceiling when she arrives.
