He heard the knock at the outer door of the Temple quarters, heard the night-duty attendant's murmured exchange with whoever stood in the corridor, heard the footsteps recede. Then nothing for perhaps three minutes. Then a second knock, at his own door this time, and the attendant's voice saying that a message had arrived for Master Kenobi, marked urgent, and that Master Kenobi's rooms had not answered, and that the attendant had been told this matter concerned the boy.
