Synopsis

When President Marcus Ellison is killed in what the nation mourns as a tragic assassination by a foreign operative, his son Daniel Ellison — a 28-year-old former Marine turned political journalist — returns to Washington D.C. to grieve. But grief curdles into suspicion when Daniel begins receiving encrypted messages from a dying NSA whistleblower who claims to have intercepted communications proving the hit was ordered from within the administration itself. As Daniel digs deeper, he uncovers a devastating truth: his uncle, Vice President Roland Ellison, orchestrated the assassination to seize the presidency and consolidate power with a shadowy coalition of defense contractors and media oligarchs. Roland has already married Daniel's mother, the former First Lady Catherine, in a political union that nauseates the nation but consolidates optics of stability. Daniel must navigate a Washington where every phone is tapped, every ally is potentially compromised, and the truth itself is a weapon with a kill switch. He assembles a fractured team — a brilliant but reckless college friend, a Senate investigator with her own buried secrets, and a conflicted Secret Service agent who witnessed something he was never supposed to see. As Daniel edges closer to exposure, Roland deploys the full machinery of state surveillance, media manipulation, and political assassination to silence him. Daniel's obsession with justice begins consuming his sanity, his relationships, and his moral boundaries — forcing him to confront whether revenge and justice are the same thing, or whether he has already become what he sought to destroy.
