Synopsis

In a crumbling Victorian flat on the outskirts of modern London, three supernatural beings share an uneasy existence under the same leaking roof. Callum, a vampire who once served as a solicitor's assistant in the 1890s, has spent over a century fleeing the memory of a monster who made him—one who arrived by ghost ship and turned his world to ash. He keeps meticulous journals, obsessively documenting everything, as though recording the world might help him understand his place in it. Vera is a werewolf, a woman of Eastern European descent who crossed into Britain seeking anonymity, only to find that the city's ancient prejudices wear modern masks. She transforms involuntarily with each lunar cycle, and the neighbors have filed complaints. The third tenant is Oliver, a ghost who does not know he is dead—who wanders the flat's dark corridors drawn by distant sounds of laughter and light, catching glimpses of himself in mirrors and recoiling from what he sees, piecing together the unbearable truth of his own nature fragment by fragment. When a figure begins appearing outside their window—a tall man in archaic dress, whose shadow falls the wrong direction—the three tenants realize their separate pasts are not separate at all. Something ancient and patient has tracked each of them here, to this one address, to this one fragile shelter. The flat becomes their castle, their prison, and their last defensible ground. To survive, they must excavate each other's buried histories, confront what they have been running from, and decide whether monsters can choose to be something other than what made them.
