Chapter 30: When the Stars Go Dark

The morning of the Harrison extraction, Marcus found a note on his desk written in Reyes's handwriting.

It was three lines. No salutation. The first line was a grid coordinate he recognized as the Eutaw Street position — twelve blocks north of Harrison, where the Logistics Officer's strike element would stage if the intelligence ran the way Marcus had built it to run. The second line was a number: forty hours, crossed out, replaced with thirty-one. The third line said: *I used the Tomás route. Don't burn it after.*

Marcus read it twice. Then he folded it into his breast pocket, against the worn edge of his notepad, and went to find Carol.
